Grow

This growth is coming along well. The plants have started to enter their vegetation stage. The leaves have been coming in green on each stem. The stalks have been getting thicker and eating more. The science of creating the perfect atmosphere for your plants is essential. The choices that you have in having your farm are all up to you. I decided to use a controlled environment. I am using the Mars Hydro tent. The options that you have for sizes are can be from a 2x2 to 5x5.

This is where you will have to do the research on the type and style of tent that is adequate for your needs. Make sure you read the specs and type of mylar that the tent is made of.   Your space should be clean and free of any obstacles. The area should be accessible and well ventilated. With good airflow to your plants, you will be able to control the temperature of your tent. Most tents come with all the parts for assembly. Be careful when putting the tent up. The material on the outside is sturdy but is prone to puncture. It can be frustrating putting it up. Try not to do it alone.

Now here is where the hard part comes in. The fan that is needed for your environment. The fan has to be a charcoal filter fan. The charcoal will filter out impurities in the air and give the plants circulation and breathing. The fan can range from 80-200 dollars. The most expensive thing about being a farmer is the equipment. Equipment alone can run into 1000 dollars. SO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

Farming

Farming is one of the simplest ways to grow produce. There are so many choices to use when your median (soil, coco, hydro, clay, etc). The choice that I find that is easiest for first-time farmers is soil. You can read the different materials that compose the soil you choose. For instance in a bag of Miracle grow potting soil sphagnum peat moss, aged bark fines, perlite, plant food, and a wetting agent. Then there is the option to make your own soil. By buying the different ingredients to create your median. You have more control over the number of nutrients that go into your plant.

I have started growing a small herb garden. I went with soil. I purchased small tin pots to start the germination of seeds. I drilled three small holes at the bottom of the pots first. I made my organic soil. I used perlite, worm castings, and living soil from Fox Farm. I used the ocean soil blend. After filling each pot with the living soil. I filled 6 pots with soil.

The seeds that were planted were dill, lavender, basil, oregano, and rosemary. Now the waiting game begins.
